The privacy policy of the EcoPulse application describes how ICCS, the technical partners of Urban ReLeaf, ‘Groene Buurt, Koele Buurt’ collects and processes your personal data.
By registering on the EcoPulse mobile app, you agree to:
The Urban ReLeaf project (GA No. 101086638), funded by the European Commission and the UK Research and Innovation, is dedicated to safeguarding your privacy. This Privacy Policy details how we process your personal data for our activities. By participating, you agree to the handling of your personal data. Please review this document carefully to understand our practices and approach your data.
EcoPulse mobile app, one of the developed digital solutions of Urban ReLeaf’s project requires users to register with their name, password, country, and email. The email becomes the username. After registration, users pair the app with a Temperature and Relative Humidity (TRH) sensor, which collects data on location, TRH, and thermal discomfort. This information is stored securely by ICCS, the technical partner, with access limited to aggregated representations for the public and stakeholders. Consequently, ICCS is committed to transparently disclosing our practices regarding location tracking, ensuring that this information will be solely used to investigate the micro-climatic effects of the inspected area and enhance your protection overheat stress. This entails, highly encrypted techniques, which allow data collection and transmission through the mobile application, and therefore prohibit associating users’ personal information with the observations of the sensor, and thus the locations covered by the users. This way, it is guaranteed that neither the wider public nor ICCS, who holds the data stewardship cannot associate the users’ daily routes with the locations covered by the sensor and stored in the IoT platform.
Personal data collected and stored in ICCS data storage facilities includes name, surname, password, email, age, gender, language, city, neighbourhood, and location solely when the sensor is activated. Only password, email and location are mandatory. The purpose of the additional demographic data will be to showcase inclusivity levels, not individual data analysis. The app is accessible to users aged 15 and above, with minors' data protected.
For using the EcoPulse mobile app for Android operating systems with versions older than 12, the app will request to access the location of your mobile phone. This is because the older Android versions require location access for Bluetooth to work. We do not use, collect, store, or share any location data coming from the mobile phone. The permission is solely for Bluetooth functionality as mandated by the Android operational system.
The Consortium ensures security with organizational and technical measures, preserving data for two years after the project ends. Measures prevent unauthorized access or use, and ICCS processes data confidentially without sharing it externally.
It is noted that according to the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016), you may exercise the following rights that derive from the Regulation:
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, typically in the EU (or European Economic Area) state where you work, reside, or where any alleged data protection infringement occurred.
While most changes are expected to be minor, Urban ReLeaf reserves the right to amend its Privacy Policy You will receive new updates or changes via the application. Approval will then be requested again.
